Cabinet Knobs

Cabinets in your home house many items such as surplus cleaning supplies and extra linens that are rarely used. These surplus items should not be neglected as they can be useful in the future when the existing ones get damaged.

With such items, it is easy to get caught up in choosing the right cabinet hardware. A project is not entirely complete until you have chosen the right cabinet knobs that strike a balance between form and function. Final touches, like having the right knobs, pulls the project together.

To make your house look elegant, you should find durable and attractive cabinet knobs that complement the existing décor.

Choosing the Correct Cabinet Knobs

Selecting the right knob is a matter of coordinating knobs with the type of cabinetry you plan on upgrading. When choosing a kitchen cabinet knob, for example, ensure it matches the appearance and design of your kitchen. For example, if it is a traditional kitchen, you can go with an oak ring cabinet wooden knob or a pine cabinet wooden knob. On the other hand, if your kitchen is elegant and modern you can purchase a heavy sleek round chrome cabinet knob, faceted glass cabinet knob, or a faceted pink glass chrome-based cabinet knob.

Materials

Brass knobs have plating or lacquer applied to the surface which makes it durable. Brass is antimicrobial and helps in reducing the spread of germs. Stainless steel knobs are also durable. Nickel and pewter are popular choices. The bronze knob is also antimicrobial and provides a substantial feel and look. You can also choose knobs made from crystal or glass for a bling appearance. You can also choose knobs made from Antique Brass for an antique appearance.

How to Place Cabinet Knobs

Knobs are your most basic cabinet hardware. Cabinet knobs often use a single screw and are traditionally circular or round. However, Hiatt Hardware offers knobs in all shapes ranging from T-shape to square. The cabinet knobs come in different finishes and materials and different choices ranging from crystal to wood to ceramic.

On base cabinets, knobs are placed 2.5” to 3” from the upper corner of your cabinet door. On-wall cabinets, they are placed 2.5” to 3” from the bottom corner of your cabinet door. Conversely, on pull-out cabinets and drawers, knobs are centred on the front of the drawer.

If the drawer is too wide, you can place a second cabinet knob. The drawer can be divided into two and place the two knobs at each part.
